“The report on clerical sexual abuse of children in Dublin exposes how the most powerful men in the Catholic Church in the Dublin Diocese conspired to protect abusers of children. It was a gross betrayal of generations of children.

“It is especially damning that the State authorities facilitated the cover-up and allowed the Church to be beyond the reach of the law. Senior Gardai, up to and including the level of Commissioner, repeatedly turned a blind eye to crimes of clerical sexual abuse.

“Sadly child abuse is not a thing of the past and is continuing today and, to the shame of successive Governments in this state our child protection services are a disgrace. The HSE knows of cases where children are in grave danger but the services are not in place to make the interventions required.

“If the State does not put in place the services for the protection of children then it will be just as culpable as it was in the past when it facilitated the cover up of child sex abuse.”

Cynthia Owen was 11 years old and pregnant. She eventually gave birth in the squalid house in which she lived and then had to watch as her mother stabbed the baby to death. That was in 1973.
Cynthia is a middle aged woman now and has just produced a book called 'Living with Evil.
While being interviewed by Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show she told of being abused by her father when she was about 7 or 8. When she was a couple of years older her mother used to take her, every month, to a certain location where she would be drugged before being abused by a paedophile ring of about 13 individuals who paid for the 'privilege'.
After nearly 40 years, Cynthia says that, of the 13, 8 are still alive.
To give an indication of how serious Irish society takes this brutal crime, NOT ONE of these perverts has ever been brought to trial.
Because we were conditioned by the Catholic Church to deny the existence of anything pertaining to sexuality, it led the victims to believe that only they were unfortunate enough to have been fitted with a set of genitals and were thereby somewhat 'dirty'. The result of this indoctrination was that 'believers' were reluctant to speak out even if they came across something 'suspicious'. I remember a time in Ireland when, if you talked about sex, the people to whom you were speaking would get very uncomfortable.

The above comes from a website called Suffer the Little Children . Apparently they are hooked up with the Ministry of Hope which is a charity organization in Malawi where AIDS has devastated the population leaving thousands of children orphaned.
While any effort to make the lives of the disadvantaged on this planet are to be lauded, it is highly regrettable that such charities are run by 'christians' who see easy pickings in dazzling the impressionable and destitute with tales of violence, fire and brimstone and other crap.
Would these charities not do far more good by educating the children to the point where they won't be so easily taken in by crooked politicians who are responsible for their predicament in the first place.
AIDS is not the 'serious' disease that it was when it was first discovered. There are methods and medicines available right now in 2010 which can cut the death rate from the disease significantly.
Why are these medicines not freely available? Because the pharmaceutical companies, mostly run by christians, who make the drugs don't see any profit in providing them to the the people of poor countries like Malawi.
I believe that teaching the children these facts would equip them, later in life, to better understand how they might force their politicians to seriously address the problem.
And, if you are suffering from AIDS, John the Baptist, with his head missing, won't be worth a fuck!

Is our government trying to compete with Iran with their new Blasphemy Laws which came into force on Jan 1 2010?

The representatives of the Vatican must have taken 'precious' time off from desperately trying to pretend that they weren't covering up child sex abuse when they went to lobby our inept Justice Minister Dermot Ahern to get him to introduce blasphemy laws in Ireland in the 21st century.
Of course, they would have been aided and abetted by their god fearing supporters who will do anything to prevent reality being thrust in their faces in the same way that ordinary non-afflicted people have had to endure the stupidity of religion being thrust upon them.
Apart from people like me running the risk of being 'shut down' by the 'Taliban', these laws could result in any criticism of the Catholic Church being construed as blasphemy and, therefore, make it easier still to cover up clerical child abuse.
Mr Ahern and his government of the elite would serve the country better if he made it illegal for religious groups to peddle their misery and, particularly, the coercion of parents into indoctrinating their children in a sort of codswallop from which it will take them years to be cured.

Cardinal Daly dead...I'm devastated!

It's important to realize that the Catholic Church is not just a religion. First and foremost, it's a very successful business.

After decades - at least - of covering up Catholic child sex abuse, Cardinal Cahal Daly finally snuffed it today. The report of his death on RTE News said that he was a 'foremost theologian'.
I looked up Theology and found that it was the study of god and all the trimmings that go along with the ludicrous concept.
To those of us who have studied the bigger picture, this man's 'talent' was studying thin air.
The report also said that he was 'most trenchant critic of politically-inspired violence'...a reference to the 'troubles' in Northern Ireland.
I remember being 'taught' in a Catholic school back in the early 50's that it was virtuous to fight the British because they were all Protestants and spent a good deal of their time trying to stop us Catholics from praying and, that if you died for your religion and country, you were 'a cert' to get into heaven. Particularly, if you happened to be torn apart with your entrails hanging out and blood all over the floor in the process. The more butchery that was involved, the more likely you would be to be 'elevated' to sainthood. Good deal or what?
Make no mistake, this 'disciple' of god knew all about the Vatican's Criminales Solicitaciones which advised that any child sex abuse by priests was to be covered up.
This 'cover-up' just didn't apply to Ireland. It applied to the whole catholic world which meant that THOUSANDS of children had to suffer in silence as a result.
For the next couple of days we will be treated to news coverage of the sickening eulogizing of a criminal.

It's not the exact quotation but, nevertheless, senior Irish politicians knew for decades what was going on in the Irish Catholic Church with regard to paedophile priests. Most of these senior politicians have had their stupid arses on seats in our parliament for those decades and not one of them has had the backbone to stand up and, at least, castigate the Catholic Church for allowing the carnage to continue unabated.
We know that, at least, one of these politicians sent word 'down the line' to smother the investigation into the murder of Bernadette Connolly .
We know that Bertie Ahern knew that the Catholic Church was covering up the sexual abuse of children.
The present clamor for the resignation of bishops is just a smokescreen for the fact that our government were also 'in on the act'.
These arseholes should also be rooted out and asked to account for themselves.
The job of our elected politicians is to do what's right for the good of the country. Not to do what's right in order for them to retain their seats at all costs.
Anyone who, knowingly did nothing when they knew that children were being abused, in effect, supported that abuse.
The whole dirty mess should be taken to the Hague - the Court of Human Rights - where the politicians and the hierarchy of the Catholic Church should be asked to explain why they all colluded together to cover up the terror that was inflicted on Ireland's innocent children.

The author Dan Brown made a fortune from the Da Vinci Code in which he concocted tales of Vatican criminality, intrigue and murder.
It now appears that the Irish Catholic Church, the Irish Police/Gardai/Irish State and the Vatican conspired together to cover up the murder of a beautiful little 10 year old girl on a lonely country road in County Sligo in 1970. Some months after her murder her little body was discovered dumped in a Sligo bog...a long long way from the opulence of the the Vatican City. Only the investigators of Barnadette Connolly's murder would have known of this connection because, just when they were homing in on the main suspect, word came down from 'above' telling them to lay off.
The suspect priest was 'moved' to somewhere in Africa during the investigation and died - far too late- in 2001.
One can't help wondering, if it was so easy to get away with such a crime in Ireland in 1970, how many children could have been raped/murdered and dumped in the African bush by Vatican lunatics.
To progress the 'theory' further: How many children's bodies all over the world down through centuries have been similarly dumped by the 'pie in the sky salesmen' from the Vatican which sent out the message..."Keep your mouth shut and it will be sorted".
I know that there those out there who think that, just like the bible, I'm making this up as I go along to suit the occasion. Well, all I can say to those people is: Reality is a bastard but,some of us have to deal with it.
When you think of all the saints who were 'created' by the Catholic Church over centuries - many of whom were persecuted for their 'faith' - what about creating a real saint of someone who was murdered by the Catholic Church?
What about SAINT BERNADETTE CONNOLLY?

We now know that 'Ratzo's entourage' are nothing but a propaganda machine - one of the best in the world - who, now and again, come out of their opulent surroundings to make idiotic bulls and epistles which are swallowed without question by gullible 'parishioners' all over the world.
Prancing about in their clerical garbs at their pathetic little ceremonies they look like an up-market version of a Cinderella type Christmas pantomime.

Apart from Ireland, it is reckoned that about 6,000 priests abused about 12,000 victims in the USA alone. This indicates an abysmally low level of intelligence on the part of the supporters of the Catholic Church in that country.
It would appear that the priority of this 'group' is to avoid hell no matter who has to suffer in the process.

Today we were treated to more revelations of child sex abuse by priests in the Irish Catholic Church. The Murphy Report targets the diocese of Dublin which is one of about 26 in the island of Ireland. The real tragedy here is that there are a couple of million 'souls' who will park their cars in the 'middle' of the road in order to go in and grovel at the next 'gig' of the sacred mass and who think that it didn't/couldn't happen in their parish.
There's no need here to go into the brutal details because, anyone with half a brain who has gone out into the real world will know what pedophilia involves and, they will also know that there is no cure for the 'condition'. Therefore it's rich to hear the 'Catholic Pimps' who facilitated the abuse of children by their need to protect their stupid church instead of protecting the most vulnerable members of society come out and tell us that some of these priests were sent for counseling. A natural instinct in even the most brutal example of humanity would be to have some semblance of compassion for children. Our little gods had NO compassion. Anything that would impinge on their ability to strut about like royalty had to be protected at all costs.
These guys, who never had to do a day's hard work in their lives and who never had to face the wrath of a wife or husband who were thoroughly sick of the other with no money and a bunch of children to be catered for, got to tell the rest of us how to live our lives.
The real question is: How many bishops who, while they were priests, abused children and who are now pontificating as if they couldn't possibly be guilty?
Were past and present popes among this 'cohort'?
The elephant in the room
For decades I dutifully went to vote and now I realize that it was a waste of time because, each time, it was a vote for the Vatican. The Vatican decided everything in Ireland. Our arsehole politicians, for as long as I can remember, answered to Rome instead of the will of the Irish people.
We now know that politicians, Gardai/Police and every other organ of our 'state' knew of the sexual abuse of our children and colluded in covering it up.
It's a dire country in which to be the unfortunate possessor of the 'makings' of a brain!
In short, it was paedophiles and their supporters who called the shots in Ireland for decades. They subverted the Irish State more than any other foreign power, including Britain, ever could.
It's way past time where these guys took their 'smoke and mirrors' and fucked off to the Vatican where they could pretend to pray for the world's destitute while living in the lap of luxury.
The next time that you stick your chest out with Irish pride remember that our 'culture' is Vatican culture. The Irish have no state that they can call their own!

If I drive my car up our town and park leaving half the car on the footpath/sidewalk there's a very good chance that the Traffic Warden will stick a ticket on my windscreen. But, people attending 'services' at the local Catholic Church can park willy nilly to the point where the road is almost blocked.
I just wonder if there's favouritism here for those who believe in god. Is it not part of their religion that they 'love' their neighbour and, if so, is it a case that you can drop that 'love' when praying?

For centuries now Ireland has been effectively ruled by the Vatican. It has been irrelevant as to whether we were colonized by the British or any other power because, we were conditioned by the Catholic Church to be subservient to Rome regardless. I'm now 60 years old and, every time I think of how the church influenced our lives over the decades and how we, as a nation, have been held back intellectually by what I now know to be a dirty rotten little system of deceit, my blood boils.
To see the hierarchy in Rome parading themselves about in the media as if they didn't have assholes like the rest of us is disgusting to say the least. We are all human and deserve to be treated as such. We are all in 'this thing' together and should be, unconditionally, supporting each other on the road to oblivion and not regarding the other person as inferior in terms of which 'compartment' they will end up in after they snuff it.
The most sinister aspect of the Catholic Church's influence is the fact that they focus on the children to propagate their evil trade.
Nowadays, we know that a large percentage of the Catholic Clergy either indulged in child abuse or were complicit in covering it up. What's the difference?
It is my view that the Catholic Church is just a 'blueprint' for the rest of the world's religions. The same system is used to frighten the shit out of the gullible. With what we now know about our world and with the availability of information, it's difficult to see how so many are prepared to accept unsubstantiated crap as factual reality.
It's way past the time, in Ireland in particular, to rid ourselves of this dirty little desease called Catholicism.
