Pope Innocent III....scumbag

The record of Onquisition would be embarrassing for any organisation: for the Catholic Church, it is devasting. Today, it prides itself, and with much justification, on being the defender of natural law and the rights of man. The papacy in particular likes to see itself as the champion of morality. What history shows is that, for more than six centuries without a break, the papacy was the sworn enemy of elementary justice. Of eighty popes in a line from the 13th century on, not one of them disapproved of the theology and apparatus of the Inquision. On the contrary, one after another added his own cruel touches to the workings of this deadly machine. From 'Vicars of Christ' by Peter De Rosa.
